Project of the ISRC Pamir experimental site development
.
The Program of development of the unique experimental set-up at the Pamir Ak-Arkhar experimental site for the 2009-2012 envisages an upgrading of the X-ray emulsion chamber (XREC) and creation on its basis of a complex hybrid set-up including deep XREC of about 1000 m2 in area for extensive air shower (EAS) core (i.e., gamma-hadron families) passive detection, AS array composed of electronic scintillating detectors for on-line registration of low energy EAS electron and muon components, a burst detector based on large plastic scintillating counters with WLS-fiber read-out for matching of both type events. Such a set-up for comprehensive studies of superhigh energy (E0=1014-1018 eV) cosmic rays will make it possible to determine more precisely energy of the primary particle and to estimate carefully its mass number as well..
